closing the enrollment for Athens and Rome July 15th.

Hello All,

We will be closing the enrollment for Athens and Rome July 15th.

We already have 10 definite travelers and 5 verbal commitments that are waiting for one thing or another – that makes 15. I’d like to get to 18. The Price since our info Meeting at RCMS has already increased 155 dollars – sorry. Increases can happen monthly. It may not increase at all, it may increase just $10.00, or it, evidently, may increase $155.00 or more. The increases for Peru were quite small at first. Europe seems a different animal, so if you are certain, please enroll ASAP.

Some may ask why do it now? A very reasonable question. In the end, parents and students will have their own reasons and they may all be different. The best reason may be because the opportunity is here, now. Beyond that, I believe that young people that have seen the World, more than the town or state or even the country, but who have seen different cultures, different landscapes, different stars in the sky, those people see the world they live in broadly. They see their place in the world both more clearly and they become more comfortable in their own skin. They engage in learning because whatever is being taught/learned has context and importance.

Just a reminder of what we will do –

In Athens we will visit:

    • Olympic Stadium
    • Omonia and Syntagma Squares We forget that Greece was a part of the Ottoman Empire
  • Visit the Acropolis: I’m Very excited to see the structure and the scars of 2000+ years on it

    • Parthenon
    • Temple of Athena Nike
  • Visit the Acropolis Museum
  • Plaka District – old historic neighborhood in Athens
  • Temple of Olympian Zeus – This is all very Percy Jackson-ish
  • Participate in a Greek dance lesson

In Rome we will:

  • Take a guided tour of Vatican City
  • Visit the Sistine Chapel – pretty excited to see Michelangelo’s work first hand
  • Visit St. Peter’s Basilica  – most renowned piece of architecture of the renaissance
  • Take an expertly guided tour of Rome
  • Visit the Colosseum  – a 7th wonder of the world
  • Visit the Roman Forum archeological ruins

At the beginning of the school year we will have our first meeting when we will go over fundraising for the year. Our first fundraiser will be a simple can drive. I have a list of about 8 fundraisers that we can slim down at that meeting to about 5. I’m very open to ideas. We will also go over application letters that are still due and start researching Athens.

As always I suggest you visit our website at
randolphtap.org and/or the EFtours web page.http://www.eftours.com/ and use the tour number – 1817430CU

Sincerely,

Mr. Moore
